Project Name: Moonzapps
Duration: Q3–Q4 2017
Type: Web and Mobile Application
Role: Full-cycle Product Design and Development
⸻
Moonzapps began in the second half of 2017 as a simple idea between two students who wanted school life to be easier to track and more engaging. What started as pen-and-paper wireframes quickly turned into interactive prototypes in Adobe XD and eventually a hybrid mobile build using Ionic. The goal was simple — to create a digital platform where students and administrators could manage grades, track behavior, and access academic information in one place.
Working closely with OSIS and MPK, we developed features around real needs, blending creativity and practicality while learning how to handle developer registration and compliance challenges along the way. Despite being a student-led effort, Moonzapps grew into a fully functional ecosystem powered by cloud infrastructure and a custom data exchange layer called CDX (Centralized Data Exchange).

Process and Methodology
The project started from scratch with sketches and rough wireframes, later refined in Adobe XD for clearer interaction mapping. Once the flows were finalized, we built the hybrid app through Ionic Creator, allowing deployment across Android and iOS simultaneously. The app ran entirely on cloud hosting for stability and scalability, with CDX acting as a dedicated layer for managing shared files and centralized data.
Moonzapps’ features included a points tracking system for behavioral scoring, academic and e-learning modules, a discussion forum, a staff directory, and direct integration with HarmoniaMagz for school news. Along the way, we faced several technical and compliance challenges, from Apple’s D-U-N-S registration to store listing approvals, but we found creative workarounds to make each milestone possible.

Insights and Reflections
Moonzapps was my first real experience in creating a complete digital product — from ideation and design to development and release. It became the foundation for my passion in product building, teaching me how creativity, persistence, and teamwork can turn a school project into a real product used by hundreds of people.
“We were just students figuring things out, but Moonzapps taught me how far curiosity, teamwork, and persistence could take an idea.” — Chaliza Aziz
