IT and Website Builder, Desa Wisata Kembang Arum – Tourism Destination Digital Presence
Donokerto, Turi, Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta – January 2025

Turning an existing destination into a clearer digital presence

Desa Wisata Kembang Arum already had real tourism value before this project started. It had an existing activity offering, a public profile, and a place on Indonesia’s national village-tourism registry. This work was never about inventing a village-tourism concept from scratch. It was about translating what already existed, the destination story, the activities, the local context, into a clearer website and a more coherent public information structure.

The project ran through an MBA UGM related consulting context. Aldo acted as project giver and controller. Yoga served as the village-side contact, coordinating from the destination’s operational end. My role sat on the IT and website-building side. It covered the website build itself, its structure, content direction, brand documentation direction, design direction, proposal support, and media release support.

What the work on Desa Wisata Kembang Arum actually involved

  • Website build and structure: Built the destination’s website from the ground up. This included the information structure a first-time visitor needed to understand the village, its activities, and how to plan a visit.
  • Content and copy direction: Shaped how the destination’s story got told in writing. This meant translating an existing but scattered public presence into a single, coherent narrative.
  • Brand documentation direction: Set the direction for the village’s visual identity and brand materials, so they held together across the website and supporting documents.
  • Design direction: Guided the overall look and feel of the site, alongside the broader content and documentation decisions rather than in isolation.
  • Proposal and media release support: Supported the surrounding communication work. This included the proposal materials and media release content that accompanied the website itself.
  • Stakeholder coordination: Coordinated between the project’s consulting side and the village’s operational side, routed mainly through Aldo and Yoga.

Why a village website is a harder brief than it sounds

A tourism village is not a startup with a single product to explain. It is a place with a real community and existing routines. Its story already exists in fragments, across brochures, word of mouth, and a national registry listing, rather than in one place. The job was less about designing something new. It was more about finding that existing story and giving it a home a visitor, school, or travel organizer could actually navigate.

This project sits alongside other community-rooted work outside the corporate world. That work gets built around a specific place and the people who actually live there, rather than a general audience. Documentation and evidence from the Desa Wisata Kembang Arum project, screenshots, supporting files, and the finished site itself, are still being gathered. This is part of turning this project into a fuller public case study. In the meantime, Desa Wisata Kembang Arum’s public profile on Jadesta, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s village-tourism registry, remains the clearest public reference for the destination this project was built around.
