Co-Creative Director, Jogja Information Technology Session (JOINTS UGM)
Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Sep 2020 to 2021
Directing creative identity for UGM’s flagship tech event
Jogja Information Technology Sessions (JOINTS UGM) is the premier annual national IT event organized by the Student Association of Computer Science (HIMAKOM UGM). Spanning national programming contests, UI/UX hackathons, data science challenges, and tech seminars, it brings together hundreds of student innovators from universities across Indonesia.
As Co-Creative Director, I was tasked with establishing a cohesive visual system and brand identity across all physical and digital touchpoints during a period when national events were transitioning to hybrid and virtual formats.
- Role: Co-Creative Director
- Key Deliverables: Comprehensive event brand guidelines, social media feeds & story assets, motion graphics, and digital live broadcast overlays
- Fundraising Innovation: Designed and curated official merchandise collections as an internal fundraising engine for the organizing committee
Merchandise fundraising as a revenue engine
Beyond producing promotional graphics for public relations, our creative team partnered directly with the sponsorship division to treat design as a revenue generator. We designed limited-edition merchandise (hoodies, t-shirts, sticker packs, and tech accessories) with intentional design aesthetics that appealed to student developers and tech enthusiasts.
This initiative not only elevated the event’s prestige on campus, but also generated substantial self-funding revenue that reduced reliance on external sponsorships.
Unified visual systems in a virtual era
Managing the visual execution required tight coordination across 15+ committee members. We developed modular design templates in Figma and Adobe Illustrator, allowing our design team to roll out high volumes of announcements, speaker cards, and competition briefs without sacrificing typographic consistency or visual polish.
